Have you heard of the life-giving tree? Or the highest peak on which divine beings live? Or maybe the dark depths, known as hell? These familiar tropes span across the globe under various names specific to the religion and region. The lost city of Atlantis for the Greeks or Dwakra for the Indians evokes a sense of enigma and mystery than pervades generations of storytelling.
We will travel virtually through the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa in RELS 200: Religious Myths and Worldviews, with these stories, myths, and narratives as our guidelines. Let us uncover the view of the world these legends present… and enquire what we make of our stories to look at the different worlds outside our own.
Please refer to the detailed blogging guidelines in D2L folder “Edu-Blog”. One post by each student in RELS 200 : Religious Myths and Worldviews (Summer 2020) will enrich this blog as we go on exploring the exciting world of myths and worldviews that emerge.
Let us challenge what we know and what we see through the age-old myths!
